Hemp Almond Pesto

Ingredients:

1/2 cup shelled hempseeds
2/3 cup sliced almonds
1 bunch basil
3 tablespoons hemp oil
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups grated parmesan cheese

Directions:

• Crush seeds, almonds, basil, hemp oil, and olive oil to a paste with a pestle in a mortar.
• Mix in the parmesan.
• Heat pesto in a pot, being careful not to overcook it.
• Serve this tasty sauce over your favorite pasta.
• Finely cut tomato cubes add refreshing taste and color.
• Sufficient for 1 1/2 pounds pasta.

Chocolate Superfood Smoothie

Makes two of the most incredible-tasting and incredibly
healthy smoothies you've ever had!

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp ground hempseed
1 Tbsp ground flax seeds
2 scoops (84g) stevia
2 Tbsp raw chocolate powder (I use Sunfood brand)
2 cups frozen or fresh fruit
1 Tbsp honey or agave nectar
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 cup water or almond milk
1 Tbsp raw almond butter or peanut butter (optional)
1 handful goji berries (optional)
1 Tbsp maca (optional)

Directions:

Mix in a blender, with ice if you like. Enjoy.

Coconut Hemp Veggies

Want to liven up your vegetables and enjoy a higher level of health? Here's a simple and creative way to combine organic veggies with the benefits of hempseed plus a healthful and delicious oil.

Directions:

Chop up a variety of vegetables that are in season — carrots, beets, onions, celery, parsnips, cauliflower, brocoli, turnips, kale, chard, etc. Place these in a metal or bamboo steamer and add some dried herbs of your choice.

Steam the vegetables till they're done and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle on some celtic sea salt, add a few generous tablespoons of virgin coconut oil and hempseed, and serve. You can cook up some extra veggies and store them in the fridge for a quick lunch the next day. Let us know how you enjoy this nutritious dish, rich in fiber, minerals, vitamins, and high-quality fats.

Spicy Hot Coconut Sauce

Heat 3 tablespoons Nutiva Coconut Oil in pan, add sea salt, pepper, curry and cayenne spices, then pour over steamed
veggies, salad, or grains.

Consider adding Nutiva hempseeds to the spiced oil.

Hemp Flat Bread

Ingredients:

1 c. wheat flour
2 c. hemp flour
1/2 c. wheat germ
1 c. granola
1/2 c. honey
1 c. sesame seeds (or any other nuts)
2 eggs
1 tbs butter
1 c. milk
1/2 c. jam (flavour to taste)
1 ts baking soda
1 ts baking powder

Directions:

Mix dry ingredients, then combine and mix with the rest of the ingredients.
Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes.

Hemp Milk

Ingredients:

1/4 cup shelled hempseeds
1 cup water
flavorings (vanilla, maple syrup or honey)

Directions:

Place seeds into a blender and add small amount of water 1 inch above the seeds. Turn blender on at multiple speeds and agitate seeds so they become a thick hemp cream.

Then add either vanilla, maple syrup or honey or only a ripe banana and serve as a thick drink or add water at a ratio of 4.75 water to 1 part seed for a lighter hemp milk.

A great alternative to soy milk without the throwaway aseptic containers.

Delicious Fruit and Nut Super Smoothie

This is a quick snack you can drink on the go!

Ingredients:

1 Blood Orange
1/2 cup Amazon Acai Hempshake
1/2 cup Blueberries
1/2 cup Rice Milk
1 Tbs Coconut Oil or Flax Oil
1/4 cup Hemp Seeds
3 Tbs Agave Nectar (optional)
3 Tbs Raw Almond Butter (optional)

Directions:

Mix in a blender, with ice if you like. Enjoy.

Hemp Guacamole

Ingredients:

Several avocados
1 tomato
1/8 cup onion
1/2 cup shelled hempseed
Tamari
Sea salt
Herbs to taste
Lemon or lime juice

 

Directions:

Peel several ripe avocados, remove the seeds, and mash the pulp in a serving bowl. Add a chopped tomato, 1/8 cup of chopped onions, and 1/2 cup of shelled hempseed. Mix well, then add tamari, sea salt, and dried herbs to taste. Lemon or lime juice is optional, to add flavor and help extend the freshness.

Sprinkle some hempseed on top of the guacamole for a neat visual effect, and serve with chips or sliced veggies. This dip is a sure winner and great conversation piece for any party.

Sweet Hemp Strips

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups shelled hempseeds
1/2 cup honey

Directions:

Lightly toast seeds in a pan, let cool, and finely grind 1 cup in coffee grinder (keep 1/2 cup for crust). Empty into midsize bowl.

Add honey gradually and knead until smooth. Make sure mixture is solid enough and not too sticky.

Roll out dough on a board or plate, 1/2 inch thick, and cut into 1 to 2-inch strips.

Spread remaining unground seeds onto plate.

Roll strips in seeds until completely covered.

Store in refrigerator.

This is an excellent example of the replacement of sesame seeds with hempseeds in traditional Mediterranean sweets.

Italian Hemp Dressing

Ingredients:

2 parts NUTIVA Hemp Oil
2 parts olive oil
2 parts vinegar

Directions:

Shake with herbs and NUTIVA hempseeds for zesty flavor.

Hempwich Butter

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups hulled hempseeds
2 tablespoons hemp oil or olive oil
1 small clove garlic
1 teaspoon soy sauce
sea salt and pepper

Directions:

Toast the seeds lightly. Once they have cooled, grind one cup of the seeds in a coffee grinder or blender.

Combine the rest of the unground hulled seeds, the ground seeds, oil, and pressed garlic in a small bowl, and blend them thoroughly with a fork.

Season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Add more oil for a softer consistency.

Store the butter in a glass jar in the refrigerator.

You'll find it tastes great on bagels or bread.

Note: Another way to produce nut butter is to grind toasted or untoasted hulled seeds in a Champion juicer.

Hearty Hot Cereal

This is a simple and easy way to enjoy delicious healing fats in your breakfast porridge.

First prepare your morning oatmeal or other whole-grain dish. Then add 1-2 tablespoons of Nutiva Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil, which melts quickly like butter, and sprinkle on a few tablespoons of Nutiva's shelled hempseed. This delicious combination offers a flavor both sweet and nutty. For added sweetness, you may want to add a touch of stevia, agave, maple syrup, or honey.

Hemp Ice Cream

Follow the recipe for Hemp Milk (see below) but skip the second step of adding more water and consider adding more fruit instead - banana, berries or peaches are ideal.

Place the thick hemp milk in a container or ideally in ice cube trays and then freeze for 5 + hours.

Run the frozen hemp milk through a champion juicer with the blank attachment or an ice cream maker and serve.

Absolutely heavenly!

Macaroons

Ingredients:

2-1/2 cups flaked coconut
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup chopped natural almonds
30 candied cherry halves

Directions:

In a medium mixing bowl, combine coconut, sugar, flour and salt. Add egg whites and almond extract. Stir well and add almonds. Drop mixture from a teaspoon onto lightly greased baking sheets. Place a cherry half on each cookie. Bake at 325 degrees approximately 20 minutes, or until edges of cookies are golden brown. Remove from baking sheets immediately and cool on baking racks. Makes about 30 macaroons.

 

Flour Substitute

Add protein powder to pies, cakes, muffins, and breads at a 25% hemp to 75% flour ratio— a great low-carb flour substitute.

Nutty Fruit Cake

Ingredients:

1 cup sweet butter
1 to 1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 2/3 cups whole wheat
1 1/4 cups hemp flour
1/2 cup milk
1 cup raisins
1 cup candied ginger
1 cup dried fruit (cherries, blueberries, or apricots)
1 cup nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, or pecan)
1/2 cup toasted hulled hempseeds

Directions:

Slowly melt butter in pan and mix with sugar. Mix in eggs and milk and add salt. Combine wheat and hemp flours with baking powder and slowly add into butter/sugar/milk/egg mixture. Stir until smooth and mix in other ingredients. Spread in greased bread pan and bake at 350 F (180 C) for one hour.

Hemp Pancakes

Ingredients:

1 cup Bob's Red Mill 10 Grain Stone ground or Arrowhead Pancake and Waffle Mix
1/2 cup toasted shelled hempseeds
1 egg (or 1/2 cup yogurt)
1 tablespoon hemp oil
1 cup water (or soy milk)

Directions:

Grind seeds, blend with the mix, add egg or yogurt and oil, add water or milk for desired consistency, and cook. Top with your favorite topping or fill with your favorite filling.

Hemp Goddess Supreme
Organic Protein Drink

Ingredients:

2 heaping scoops Nutiva Hemp Protein Powder
2 heaping scoops Nutiva Shelled Hempseed
8 oz of water
1 ripe banana
1 handful strawberries, blueberries, or peaches
1 TBS green foods
1 dash vanilla

 

Directions:

Add 2-4 scoops (15g per scoop) of Hemp Protein Powder to a banana or favorite fruit or juice. Shake or blend with water. Add Nutiva Shelled Hempseed for a creamy, nutty flavor, and a dash of vanilla.

Shichimi Togarashi (Seven Spice Mixture)

Ingredients:

shelled hemp seed, toasted
red chile flakes (togarashi)
roughly ground sansho (Szechuan pepper)
dried mandarin orange peel flakes
nori flakes
poppy seed
white sesame seeds

Directions:

You will enjoy using this traditional Japanese condiment which is often sprinkled over fish, soups and noodle dishes. It is usually purchased pre-made in varying strengths in specialty markets. Start with equal parts of each of the ingredients above and please feel free to vary the proportions to your taste. Store in a sealed shaker in a dry place.

Hemp Tabouli

Ingredients:

1 cup whole bulgur wheat
1 tsp. kosher salt
1-1/2 cups boiling water
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 Tbsp. Nutiva Hemp Oil
dash of garlic powder
1/2 cup Nutiva Shelled Hempseed
2 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 bunch fresh parsley, chopped
4 green onions, chopped

Directions:

In a large bowl, mix bulgur wheat and salt. Pour boiling water over the wheat, mix, cover, and let sit for a half hour. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. Chill and serve.

Hempseed Tahini

Ingredients:

1 cup shelled hempseeds
1 tablespoon hemp oil
1 tablespoon water (optional)

Directions:

Toast the seeds and finely grind them in a blender.

Combine them with the oil and mix to a smooth paste. The mixture may require the water to keep it moist.

Add the resulting tahini to homemade hempseed hummus (see below).

Hempseed Hummus

Ingredients:

3/4 cup hempseed tahini
1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas
1 tablespoon hemp oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
3 to 4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon soy sauce
freshly ground pepper
a pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions:

Puree the chickpeas in a blender, add the other ingredients, and blend until the texture is smooth and creamy.

Makes two cups.

Vanilla Hemp Mesquite Milk

Ingredients:

1 C Nutiva hemp seeds (these are the freshest of all)
1 T mesquite pod meal
1 tsp. vanilla
3-4 C pure water

 

Directions:

Combine hemp, mesquite, vanilla and 1/2 of the water in blender. Buzz until mixture begins to get creamy and smooth. Slowly add the remaining water, blend another moment, and serve. Great as a smoothie base, excellent over granola, hot or cold cereal, grated or sliced apples or selected fresh fruit. The fiber, Omega 3 fatty acids and protein in this mix puts it into the power food category, this to be a life sustaining mix! Mesquite pod meal is a fabulous thickener. it can replace an egg in a recipe for pancakes, waffles or quick breads. Try using it to replace half the sugar in a cookie recipe, or to sprinkle as a topping instead of brown sugar. Amazing unique sweet flavor !
